There are changes afoot in the ScrumMaster cerification process. The first step will be to introduce an exam into the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) course. Richard has the details.

The intent of the exam appears to be to encourage the course participants to do some study on Scrum before they arrive, and to raise the bar a little on who gets certified.

There seems to be some confusion over when the exams will start being part of the CSM course. Michael James suggests 1 April 2009, but an article on InfoQ appear to misquote him by stating 1 January 2009. Conclusion: Real soon now.
