Admin: Comment Spam Filtering
TextPattern blogs were ignored as spam targets, but that has changed over the past year. Due to an increasing amount of comment spam on this blog I’ve implemented Akismet filtering. We’ll see how it goes.
The only noticable impact appears to be that submitting a comment takes a few seconds longer. Presumably the additional delay is due to the time take for Akismet to say yay or nay.
Authors: If you are still receiving comment spam can you please let me know. Thanks.
Update 2008-10-16: Mmm… The spam filter does not stop TextPattern from emailing comments to the author, which is what I was hoping to prevent. All it does is prevents the spam comment from being displayed on the website. The email notification contains a line that says “Status: spam. Akismet says spam”.
