Scott Ambler on Agile Certifications
In the most recent edition of Dr. Dobbs journal Scott Ambler writes about Coming Soon: Agile certification . Certification has been an on going debate in the Agile community for as long as the Agile moment has been around, and this is more wood for the fire.
Of particular interest to the Scrum community is his position on ScrumMaster certification on page 3 where he takes the Scrum Alliance to task:
“... it is very clear that people who aren’t a CSM recognize the deception, people who are CSMs recognize the deception, and even the CSM trainers recognize the deception.”
This is a fragile fact to base an argument on because most Scrum trainers are very open and forthright about what “certification” means. In any case, this article is sure to provoke commentary on what “certification” is, and isn’t.
[Disclaimer: I have a vested interest in this argument.]
